Turkish nomads have been using saddle bags for generations as a way to transport certain goods on the back of their donkey. The Akila Embroidered Saddle Bag is a large sized saddle bag with a shabby chic feel that would add some serious personality to any space. This Saddle Bag is made extra authentic and hardy due to the inclusion of cow fur woven into the wool, resulting in a super textured finish. Featuring colourful hand embroidery to the pockets and edging, with a plain reverse side (as pictured).
You will notice this Saddle Bag has an intentional slit positioned between the pockets, this slit traditionally was added for easy placement over the donkey saddle (some saddle bags were placed over the saddle and some under the saddle therefore not needing a slit). Today, saddle bags can be used in a variety of ways including floor coverings, wall hangings and more practically slung over the back of a sofa (as pictured) or the arm of a chair. With each end of the saddle bag having built-in pouches they are perfect for housing books, knick-knacks or even the t.v. remote! This saddle bag is made from 100% handwoven wool yarn with cow fur. All coloured yarns are dyed from organics dyes.

Washing Instructions;
Spot cleaning - please use a damp sponge with a mixture of warm water, vinegar and natural soap.
General cleaning - the easiest way is to hose it down with a natural soap as your detergent. You can use a small amount of vinegar in the final rinse to bring back the shine to dull colours. Do not soak your kilim and never wash it in the washing machine.
Persistent stains - due to the organic nature it is recommended to use a rug cleaning specialist
